Johnson Outboard History

Some JOHNSON Outboard Owner's Manuals PDF are above the page.

Johnson is one of the oldest brands of outboard motors. Joining together with the brand of boat engines Evinrude and a number of other brands of various products of the marina industry under the general name OMC, the company has held leading positions in the global market for several decades.

In the early 2000s, OMC was acquired by Green Marine, and it, in turn, sold it in parts. Division Johnson and Evinrude were acquired by the well-known company Bombardier, which is the owner of the outboard motors Johnson and Evinrude at the moment.

Like MercuryBombardier was faced with the fact that in their main markets, including their own countries, in 2006 severe restrictions were introduced on harmful emissions into the environment.

The company is reducing the range of two-stroke engines, focusing on four-stroke and two-stroke engines with direct injection into high-pressure cylinders - E-TEC. (Currently, two-stroke and four-stroke engines are supplied under the Johnson brand, and two-stroke engines with E-TEC injection are sold under the Evinrude brand).
